Field Engineer (Call-Out Based)

Working Arrangement: On-call basis only. There are no guaranteed working hours. Work is offered as and when customer call-out jobs become available.
About the Role
We are looking for a confident and experienced Field Engineer to undertake customer call-out visits involving computer hardware, software, applications, networking equipment, printers, and routers. The role involves attending customer sites to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, install, configure, and maintain a range of IT equipment and services.
This is a commission-based position where payment is made per completed call-out job and service provided. It is not a salaried or full-time position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend customer premises to carry out IT support and field service call-outs.
- Diagnose hardware and software faults through troubleshooting and testing procedures.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain computer systems and associated infrastructure.
- Perform hardware replacement and component upgrades where required.
- Install and configure operating systems, drivers, and software applications.
- Detect and remove viruses, malware, and other malicious software.
- Configure antivirus and security software to help protect customer systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve networking, connectivity, and internet-related issues.
- Support the installation and configuration of printers, routers, and related devices.
- Maintain accurate service reports and records of completed work.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures and customer service standards.
Skills and Qualifications
- Degree-level education, relevant vocational qualification, industry certification, or demonstrable equivalent experience in IT support or computer engineering.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems.
- Familiarity with computer architecture and hardware components.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage field service assignments effectively.

- Apple macOS systems
- Microsoft Office applications
- Network connectivity issues
- Internet routers and wireless networks
- Firewall configuration and troubleshooting
- Backup and restore solutions

Availability
Customer call-outs may be offered during the business operating hours:
- Monday to Saturday: 09:00 am – 06:00 pm
- Sunday: 10:00 am – 04:00 pm
